Grades, cuts, and formats
These are the formats commonly traded from Egypt. They serve different applications rather than representing quality tiers, so the format should follow the finished product, not the price.
California blend
Broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots. The most widely recognised retail blend in European and North American markets.
Soup blend
Peas, carrots, beans, and corn. Smaller cut, formulated for soups and stews.
Custom ratios
Blend formulated to buyer specification. Requires the ratio to be stated by weight percentage and a substitution policy agreed in advance.

Sourcing notes for buyers
- Fix the blend ratio by weight percentage in the contract. This is the single most important term for this product, because an unstated ratio lets the supplier weight the blend toward whatever is cheapest or most available.
- Agree a substitution policy in advance. Multi-crop blends will eventually hit a short ingredient, and the time to decide what happens is before it occurs, not after.
- Ingredients are calibrated to 10x10x10mm dice, which is what makes the blend look uniform.
- Microbiological limits: total plate count under 200,000 cfu/g, E. coli under 10 cfu/g, Salmonella absent in 25g. Note the higher plate count limit relative to single-crop products, which reflects the multi-ingredient composition.
- Available year-round with peak from November through March.
